Description
The Building Cisco Business Outcome-Aligned IT Roadmaps (BTROAD) is a 5-day instructor-led course that will enable learners to be initiate competence in all the important elements for the capture, analysis, design, and development of business- and IT-aligned architecture propositions.
The course is divided into a series of focused modules that will enable learners to build knowledge, understanding, and confidence in the skills, capabilities, and frameworks that they will need to develop across their teams to engage and present in an architecturally aligned approach.
The course is designed to help learners understand the business and technology drivers that necessitate the transition from products and solutions to an architectural approach and how this will require the fundamental change of their approach. The course also presents and utilizes a methodology that attendees can use to engage architecturally with their customers and create a unique architecture roadmap tied to the business strategies and objectives of the customers. Each of the modules focuses on specific areas that, when combined, will provide the basis for the development toward architecturally focused engagements.
The course prepares students for the 820-432 BTROAD exam required for earning the Cisco Business IT Roadmap Specialist certification.

Outline
The course is divided into a series of focused modules that will enable learners to build knowledge, understanding, and confidence in the skills, capabilities, and frameworks that they will need to develop to engage and present architecturally and business-relevant aligned propositions.
As a prerequisite of the course, learners should gain important insight on TOGAF and ITIL, two essential elements that will provide the architectural integrity and assurance for their roadmaps.
Within this five-day course, learners will learn how to adopt a consultative, business-led sales approach to customer engagements that enable them to position, articulate, and create the business case for the Cisco Architectural and Cisco Partner Architectural propositions in alignment with the customer vision, bringing into play important knowledge, skills, and techniques from enterprise architecture approaches as well as essential elements from TOGAF and ITIL tools and frameworks.
Learners will also have the opportunity to gain insight into business finance models through a bespoke business finance module as well as a focus on the customer conversation framework to support their understanding and develop confidence in preparing and engaging in a different conversation with a much wider set of business stakeholders.
In the final part of this course, learners will explore the Strategic IT Roadmap (SITR) methodology, which is unique to Cisco as a framework for capturing and exploring business priorities and initiatives and translating into compelling business roadmaps and business- aligned architectural propositions.
This final phase will also focus on ensuring that learners fully understand the differences between product, solution, and architecture and understand architectural design considerations. The course will also ensure that learners are able to identify the components of the roadmap and their interdependencies and business impact when building the roadmap, through the use of highly interactive and practical sessions.
The course will comprise both taught theory lessons and support through interactive and practical case study exercises.
