Description

The Configuring Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches (DCNX5K) v3.1 is a 5-day instructor-led course that introduces learners to the key components and procedures required to configure, manage, and troubleshoot these Cisco Nexus platforms.
This course is the third release of content covering the Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches and Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extender product families. The course focuses on the product hardware, its architecture, key features, and market differentiators, with extensive feature configuration and hands-on labs.
A certification exam is not associated with this course, and Channel Partner deployment engineers use this training as augmentation to the Implementing Cisco Data Center Unified Fabric (DCUFI) course material to provide in-depth experience in implementing the Cisco Nexus family product features.

Objectives

Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to meet these overall objectives:
  • Identify the specific products that make up the Cisco Nexus product families and provide a high level overview of their features and common deployment models
  • Discuss the administration and management options for the Cisco Nexus 5500 and 5600 Series Switches
  • Describe Cisco NX-API and Phyton network programmability options
  • Configure Cisco Nexus 5500 Series Switches and Cisco Nexus 2000 Series Fabric Extenders for scalable and optimized operation in an enterprise network or data center specific to LAN networking
  • Describe and configure VXLAN on Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches
  • Configure Cisco Nexus 5500 Series Switches for scalable and optimized operation in an enterprise network or data center specific to the SAN network

Prerequisite Knowledge

The knowledge and skills that a learner should possess before attending this course are as follows:
  • Good understanding of networking protocols (that is, knowledge that can be gained by attending the CCNA Certification courses)
  • Good understanding of the Fibre Channel Protocol and the SAN environment:
    • Knowledge that can be gained by attending the Fibre Channel Protocol course, or equivalent experience
    • Knowledge that can be gained by attending the Implementing Cisco Storage Network Solutions (ICSNS) course, or equivalent experience
  • During the course of instruction, the learner will be exposed to the configuration of advanced technologies, such as Fibre Channel, and FCoE, but will not be required to have experience with these technologies in order to successfully to complete the class
  • This course covers initial configuration of Fibre Channel, QoS, and FCoE on Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches; for a deeper understanding in Fibre Channel, QoS and FCoE, students are encouraged to explore additional training in those technologies
